[Fixed] The Following Signatures Were Invalid: EXPKEYSIG ED444FF07D8D0BF6 Kali Linux Repository




We can simply Update our Kali Linux all Packages using apt-get update. But many people have faced to the problem, and they get the error while updating their Kali Linux on Virtual Machine. If you also get this error then your Solution is here...



When we just tried to update one of our Kali Virtual Machine and received the following error:
[email protected]:~# 
[email protected]:~# apt-get update
Get:1 http://kali.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/kali kali-rolling InRelease [30.5 kB]
Err:1 http://kali.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/kali kali-rolling InRelease
  The following signatures were invalid: EXPKEYSIG ED444FF07D8D0BF6 Kali Linux Repository <[email protected]>
Reading package lists... Done
W: An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://kali.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/kali kali-rolling InRelease: The following signatures were invalid: EXPKEYSIG ED444FF07D8D0BF6 Kali Linux Repository <[email protected]>
W: Failed to fetch http://http.kali.org/kali/dists/kali-rolling/InRelease  The following signatures were invalid: EXPKEYSIG ED444FF07D8D0BF6 Kali Linux Repository <[email protected]>
W: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
[email protected]:~

It looks like that the APT GPG Key expired. Searched around and the found that the following solution worked for most people Just try the Following Commands:
[email protected]:~# apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 7D8D0BF6
Executing: /tmp/apt-key-gpghome.Ze2Ri87qe6/gpg.1.sh --keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 7D8D0BF6
gpg: key ED444FF07D8D0BF6: 133 signatures not checked due to missing keys
gpg: key ED444FF07D8D0BF6: "Kali Linux Repository <[email protected]>" 135 new signatures
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg:         new signatures: 135
[email protected]:~#




After that, you simply try to run apt-get update and it should just work as normal.



Sometimes the above solution didn't work for few, here is an alternative solution for them:
[email protected]:~# wget https://http.kali.org/kali/pool/main/k/kali-archive-keyring/kali-archive-keyring_2018.1_all.deb
[email protected]:~# apt install ./kali-archive-keyring_2018.1_all.deb
